Event advertising at trade shows: 7 offline tactics that drive booth visits
By Hoolty ·

The best event advertising reaches visitors before they arrive at your booth. At a large trade show, thousands of exhibitors compete for the same attention. The companies that stand out plan their visibility along the whole visitor journey: from the airport and train station, along the access roads, to the hotels and the venue itself.
Here are seven offline tactics that work for B2B trade shows.
1. DOOH at stations and airports
Visitors arrive by train, plane or shuttle – and they all pass a small number of points. Digital screens at the airport and at the station closest to the venue put your message in front of nearly every visitor on their way in. Add your booth number and a reason to stop by.
2. Billboards on the access roads
Visitors who arrive by car or taxi use the same few roads to reach the venue. Large-format billboards along these routes are hard to miss and build recognition before visitors even reach the entrance.
3. A billboard truck where your accounts arrive
A billboard truck is a mobile billboard that can park near the entrance, at a hotel area, or outside the offices of target accounts in the host city. Because it moves, one truck can cover several key locations over the event days.
4. Placements near the event hotels
Many visitors stay in a handful of hotels around the venue. Screens and posters near those hotels reach them in the morning and evening – when they are planning which booths to visit.
5. Target the local offices of your accounts
If target accounts have offices in the host city, their teams are often closest to the event – and most likely to attend. Billboards and screens near those offices extend your campaign beyond the visitors you already know.
6. Time it around the event days
Start a few days before the show to build recognition, and run through the event days themselves. Use a clear call to action: your booth number, a link to book a meeting, or a QR code on digital screens.
7. Combine offline with online and sales outreach
Offline advertising works best as part of a wider plan. Run online ads to the same target accounts, and let sales reach out to the companies you are targeting offline. When buyers see your brand in several places, they are more likely to stop by.
How to measure event advertising
Event advertising is measurable when you decide upfront what success looks like:
- Booth visits and scans compared with previous editions of the same show.
- Meetings booked with target accounts before and during the event.
- Website visits from target accounts during the event period.
- Pipeline influenced by accounts that were exposed to the campaign.
Plan early
The best locations around large trade shows are often booked well in advance. Start planning as soon as your participation is confirmed.
